The Livonian Union (Līvõd Īt) invites everyone to visit Irē (Mazirbe) on May 4th when the Tārgale Parish Livonian folklore group “Kāndla” and the Ventspils Culture Centre women’s choir “Lība” commemorate the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia and also ring in the 80th anniversary of the Livonian Community House.
The special guest at the celebration will be the Latvian and Finnish choir “Ziemeļmeita” (Northern Daughter) from Helsinki, which will be performing in Irē and on the Livonian Coast for the first time. The celebration will begin at 12:00, but the concert “Nams un dziesma” (The Community House and Song) will begin at 13:00. The programme will include Finnish and Latvian songs. The conductors will be Karol Kisiel, Ilmārs Millers, and Rihards Zariņš.
